a week ago was veterans day, which meant i had the day off from school! so... one of my suit mates and i decided to spend the day exploring san diego. we had been wanting to check out the north park neighborhood, and we decided this would be the perfect opportunity. we woke up early, caught two bus rides, and finally found ourselves in the charming and unique neighborhood of north park. we quickly found out that our journey there was well worth it. we started with breakfast at holsem, which i totally recommend. you MUST try their lavender drink!
ok, if i there was a store that was LITERALLY me, this would be it. i'm not even joking. it's called pigment, and you must check it out if you're in san diego. their christmas decorations were the cutest, and they even have a guy section which is super convenient for gifts! one of the coolest parts of the store was their little "make it yourself" plant center. you choose your pot, plant, and little decor pieces and you end up with your own creation!
we also stopped by a store called gym standard. they had some pretty cool plant pots and sneakers. really though, it was great just chatting with the store owner. he told us to check out the coffee shop next door, which we did for an afternoon pick me up.
this cute little place is called coffee and tea collective. it's the perfect place for an afternoon break.
we finished off the day with a quick bight at tacos perla. they have great tacos, but they also have interesting things you can add to them, like crickets! i steered clear from the bugs though... i'm not THAT adventurous.
all in all it was a great day. i really enjoyed getting to know the city i live in, and being able to do it with a great friend made it even better. :) if you've started college this year and haven't gotten to explore your new home yet, grab some suite mates and get exploring! p.s. if you're reading this iulia, don't worry; we'll have a day out together soon. ;) xo shawndiz
