Marble Pumpkin DIY
guys, it's almost halloween! i'm so ready for a candy overload and fun with my friends, although i still haven't decided what to dress up as... anyways, the best part of any holiday is decorating and getting all festive about everything. i bought this little pumpkin a few weeks ago, but i just realized yesterday that he actually has a name designated to it by a little sticker on the bottom: casper (so cute right?!) so, i decided casper needed a little more flair to him. i was going to go with the everyday glitter pumpkin, but i decided why not try something new? so, if you are looking for a super easy way to get into the halloween spirt, grab a pumpkin and get ready to marbleize it into a work of art. i love how unique mine turned out. there are so many color combinations you can do, so feel free to get really creative!

what you need:
  • a bowl big enough to submerge your pumpkin in
  • water
  • 2-3 nail polish colors
  • a q tip
  • a pumpkin
  • paper towels
how to make it:
  • fill your bowl with water. drip 5 drops of each nail polish into your water. i only used two colors so i did more of each. you can just estimate how much you need based on your circumstances.

  • get your q tip and just barley drag it across the surface. you may notice a thin film which makes this difficult. if it starts clumping together stop using the q tip and just disturb the water a little to get the nail polish moving. now you're ready to put your pumpkin in! the way i did it was by halves. i dunked the bottom in, then i repeated the steps (added more nail polish and dragged the q tip across) and dunked the top half of my pumpkin in.

  • set it on a paper towel to let it dry.

  • and you're all done and ready to spread the halloween spirit!
this is one of the easiest and cutest ways to decorate a small little pumpkin for your dorm room, and i would definitely recommend it over glitter and paint (which can end up making such a mess). i hope you all have a fun halloween! xo shawndiz
